Voice chat and mic checks before your group restarts

Checklist

1. Confirm the host has loaded into the world and everyone is on a compatible game version before changing audio settings.
2. Use Big Walk's in-game voice or text chat for the first test, because the game uses distance, walls, and items such as walkie talkies as part of communication.
3. Open Settings > Audio and check whether Microphone Activity moves when you talk.
4. Check the headset mute switch, boom mic position, input device, and whether Mute Mode is set to hold.
5. On PS5, open the controller sound menu and confirm Mute Game Voice Chat is off.
6. On macOS, enable microphone access for Big Walk in Privacy & Security if the game has no input.
7. If voices are quiet, first make sure everyone is on the latest version, then check system input volume and mic distance.
8. If voices echo or double, have players mute one at a time to find the feedback loop, then use headphones or mute when not talking.
9. If voices drop out together with jittery movement, treat it as a network problem and reduce heavy network use or move the host to a stronger connection.

Do not do this

• Do not turn outside Discord, party chat, or another voice app into the main fix; it can break the communication rules the game is built around.
• Do not install third-party audio drivers, voice changers, or driver-cleaner tools just to make one session work.
• Do not expose your join code or password on stream while troubleshooting voice chat.
